Azens
Azens is a planning app built on occupational therapy principles. Instead of an endless to-do list, it plans around a person's roles, routines and the energy they actually have each day.

The problem
Most planners assume every hour on the calendar is available and every day has the same energy. People end up overcommitted and blaming themselves.
Occupational therapy looks at the whole person: roles, routines, capacity and balance. Azens turns that lens into software.
What was built
An engine grounded in clinical thinking
The Occupational Intelligence Engine weighs roles, goals and occupational balance, then suggests what fits today rather than everything at once.
Capacity, not just calendar time
A short daily check-in records how much capacity a person has. Calendar events count against it, and the app flags overcommitment instead of hiding it.
Goals that turn into weekly targets
People state long-term goals in their own words. Azens derives realistic weekly targets from them and never rewrites what the person declared.
Redesigned from real feedback
When early users found the Today screen intimidating, it was rebuilt around simple, color-grouped cards with plain-language reasons. Calendar sync with Google, recurring tasks and error monitoring shipped along the way.
What this means for your practice
- Designing for real capacity
- Scheduling and intake set up around how your front desk and providers actually work, not an idealized week.
- Rebuilding when users say it's confusing
- Pages and forms tested with real patients in mind, and changed when they don't work.
- Calendar integrations that respect the source of truth
- Booking tools connected to your EHR or calendar without double-booking or data drifting out of sync.
